Big Dog Rescue is located in Central Texas. Our focus are big dogs that need a place to rest and recover, before finding their forever homes.
Big Dog Rescue was started by a young family after seeing an online ad asking for help. A female husky had been abandoned after her owner was unable to take care of it. The husky was underweight, losing fur, and had a red bulging eye. After two grooming sessions, two vet appointments, and a lot of TLC, she was a brand new pup and found her forever home. The process was so rewarding, we decided to make it a family fixture.
Our aim is to reduce pet homelessness in Central Texas through spaying/neutering homeless pets, educating the public, and placing homeless pets in their forever homes.

Our Process
Time is a big factor in our recovery process. A pet stays with us for a minimum of 1-2 months. This allows enough time for them to put on healthy weight, recover physically & emotionally, and adjust to their role as a family pet.
During their time with us , they receive:
